The approach at Open Mind is a combination of traditional hypnosis or clinical hypnotherapy, combined with Cognitive-Behavioural techniques. You focus on aligning your mind with your body, connecting your head with your heart.
Hypnosis is a powerful state which we enter in and out of daily, commonly referred to as the “trance” state. Despite stage hypnotist’s attempts to make you think otherwise, the hypnotist cannot render you unconscious and then proceed to take control of your mind. Hypnosis quite simply is a state of focused attention whereby suggestions are offered which you choose to accept. Often referred to as a state of heightened suggestibility, it is widely reputed as a means to becoming more self-aware, by acknowledging limiting beliefs and re-programming your internal self-talk.
Traditional hypnosis credits the “trance” state with the power to overcome problems, and therefore a lot of emphasis is placed on “trance” and the deepening of “trance”. The British Medical Association has recognised hypnotherapy as a form of medical treatment since 1955 for the following:
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- IBS
- Migraine
- Pain Management (for Cancer)
- Phobias
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
